Gospel-Driven Productivity

There are a plethora of books on productivity, planning, and time management in our day. For those seeking to display and proclaim Christ, we must sift through the vast material and land on the gospel. What makes our productivity gospel-centered. How do we live out the apostle Paul admonition to "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."(Col.3:17). 

Matt Perman in his book, What’s Best Next - How the Gospel Transforms the Way You Get Things Done, gives us a goal: “To do all the good I possibly can, for as many people as I possibly can, as often as I possibly can, in all spheres of life, regardless of whatever difficulties I meet with, and to do this to the glory of God through Jesus Christ.” In Gospel-Driven Productivity, I explore what this looks like in our work-a-day world.

About Paul Burr

I am a second career pastor with 21 years of experience as a Discipleship & Executive Pastor. My first career spanned 18 years with Hughes Helicopter, General Motors & Ford Electronics in engineering and management. This unique blend of professional and "sacred" work enables me to bridge to any gaps between faith and work. And since I came to the Lord later in life, I know firsthand the challenges of living a gospel-centered life in a secular setting. I love the Scriptures and I love good work. I want to help people to be able to connect Jesus Christ to those they see day in and day out. He has an MDiv from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and an MBA from the University of Michigan. I am married to the love of my life, Carol and have six adult children and four grandchildren. My favorite activities in making music on cello and piano, playing racquetball and golf. My favorite outside activity includes hiking, like Angels Landing in Zion National Park. I am an avid reader of a variety of genres, including theology, mysteries, business and professional development.
